FEBRUARY 4-5. THE BIG COLLECTIVE- York High School Student Created Event, Chair, Alex Lumia
February 8-26 - FOR THE LOVE OF ART
March 2 -April 2- GOING GREEN
After a dreary winter devoid of color, we kick off our 2017 season with a celebration of GREEN. From soft greens to green patinas to a luscious verdant green, this show will be an explosion that will thrust us into spring. Consider alternative modes of green... recycled, found objects used in art, or re-purposed objects made into art.
April 6- April 30 - PLAYING WITH SHAPES
Art that highlights particular or unique shapes or forms that strike your fancy - geometric, biomorphic, organic, blob-like, ink blots and such. Submissions can be serious or whimsical. All mediums.
MAY 4 -28 - ART IN BLOOM
Artists will submit work focused on nature’s spring exuberance. Pieces may be realistic, abstract, impressionistic and/or sculptural.
JUNE 1 - JULY 2 - IN DAYS GONE BY
This show celebrates our roots individually or as a community. Artists’ work represent a visit to the attic, evoke memories of family or history, depict an antique object or structure or tells the story of an historical event.
JULY 6-30 - HEAD IN THE CLOUDS
We've done seascapes, landscapes, now our focus is on skyscapes.
We've seen dark, dramatic clouds and light wispy clouds, shapes that prompt our imagination. This is your opportunity to portray clouds
which captivate you.
AUGUST 3-27 - SPARKLE, SHINE, DRIBBLE AND SPLASH
Submissions will reflect the world inside a drop of water, shiny objects, mirror images, reflections in the glass. Sequins and glitter. Sunlight or moonlight. Light and the sprawling splash of a wave.
SEPTEMBER 7-OCT 1- LITERATURE AND ART
Have you a favorite quote, story or character? Give it your personal interpretation or expression in any medium. Include a brief statement identifying the source and telling why you chose it. This should be typed on a 5 x 8 card to be displayed beside the work.
OCTOBER 6-29 - Five Senses
Using the five senses create your own art to create a piece or pieces of art illustrating these concepts. Think of motion, tactile experiences, sound loops. Single pieces or diptychs / triptychs may be submitted to be hung as one - the group not to exceed a 3’ x 3’ square.
NOVEMBER 2-26- FAVORITE PLACES AND THINGS
Art inspired by things you want to see when you first get up or places you want to be as often as you can.
